The Packers are kicking the tires on versatile Spencer Havner; plus a few more tidbits from Saturday.

The Green Bay Packers brought in an old friend on Friday, with tight end/linebacker/special-teamer Spencer Havner taking a physical, FoxSports.com's Adam Caplan told Packer Report.

Havner was a surprise cut by the Packers at the end of training camp. Detroit claimed him off of waivers and moved him back to linebacker — his position at UCLA and in his three years on the Packers' practice squad. He recorded nine tackles in five games for Detroit, including six against St. Louis in Week 5, when the Lions lost middle linebackers DeAndre Levy and Landon Johnson to injuries. He was waived/injured by the Lions on Oct. 14 because of an injured hamstring.

A source told Packer Report that Havner is a week or two away from being 100 percent. The Packers are among a handful of teams who have shown interest in the versatile Havner. He caught four touchdown passes in the regular season and another in the playoff last year, plus added 20 tackles on special teams.

In other quick-hit news from Saturday:

— The Packers did not activate safety Atari Bigby from the physically unable to perform list. Coach Mike McCarthy left that option open on Friday, when he announced that cornerback Al Harris would remain on PUP. The Packers have one more week to make a decision on Harris, Bigby and rookie running back James Starks. Their options are activate them, put them on injured reserve or release them.

— No. 3 halfback Dimitri Nance was added to the injury report with an ankle injury. He is listed as questionable.
