Updated NFC Playoff Chase

If the season were to end today, the Packers would be the No. 5 seed and would face the — you guessed it — No. 4 seed New York Giants in the wild-card round. In the rugged NFC, the Packers' road to the playoffs is no sure thing.

If the season were to end after today's Week 12 games, the Green Bay Packers would find themselves right back in New Jersey to face the New York Giants in the playoffs.

The Packers would be the NFC's top wild card team and would face the lowest seed among the division winners. That would be the Giants.

Atlanta and San Francisco would get the byes; Chicago would host Seattle in the other wild-card game.

Of course, there are five games to go. The Bears are within reach for the NFC North title. On the flip side, Tampa Bay and Minnesota — which are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture at the moment — are just one game behind the Packers.

Here's a look at the NFC playoff picture.

1. Atlanta — 10-1 (NFC South).

2. San Francisco — 8-2-1 (NFC West).

3. Chicago — 8-3 (NFC North).

4. N.Y. Giants — 7-4 (NFC East).

5. Green Bay — 7-4 (NFC North, second place).

6. Seattle — 6-5 (NFC West, second place).

7. Tampa Bay — 6-5 (NFC South, second place).

8. Minnesota — 6-5 (NFC North, third place).

9. Washington — 5-6 (NFC East, second place).

10. Dallas — 5-6 (NFC East, third place).

11. New Orleans — 5-6 (NFC South, third place).
