The Vikings held Percy Harvin out of practice Thursday after giving him limited work Wednesday. After a day of rest, they are hoping to see him back on the field Friday for further evaluation.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier held out star receiver
Percy Harvin
from Thursday’s practice after Harvin was limited with his sprained left ankle on Wednesday.
The Vikings are hoping to have Harvin back on the field Friday to see what he might be able to offer – if anything – Sunday against the
Green Bay Packers
.
“You’ve just got to work through it. Pain tolerance is the key,” Frazier said.
“… It would be hard to put him out there in a game without seeing him run around a little bit more than what he did on Wednesday.”
Harvin sprained his left ankle on Nov. 4 and has missed both games since and had an additional week of healing with the bye week. During his limited work on Wednesday, he ran routes and had his signature speed, but also had a pronounced limp when slowing down.
Frazier said he would have a better idea after seeing how Harvin responded to treatment and what he does during Friday’s practice, but he wasn’t going to speculate too much on whether Harvin would be ready for Sunday.
“Kind of holding out. I don’t want to get too high or too low,” he said. “It would be a big boost to us to have him. We’ll have to see how he does tomorrow.”
The Vikings did get TE
Kyle Rudolph
back on the field after resting him Wednesday with a shoulder sprain, and all other injured players were either limited or full participants.
“Everybody worked. It was good to have everybody out here with the exception of Percy,” Frazier said.
In addition to Rudolph being limited, so were LB
Jasper Brinkley
(shoulder), RT
Phil Loadholt
(knee), S
Harrison Smith
(concussion), and CB
Antoine Winfield
(knee). DE
Jared Allen
(shoulder/back), DT
Letroy Guion
(foot), RB
Adrian Peterson
(shoulder) and P
Chris Kluwe
(knee) were full participants.
For the Packers, WR Donald Driver (thumb), LB Clay Matthews (hamstring), RB Johnny White (concussion), DE C.J. Wilson (knee) and TE Andrew Quarless (knee) didn't participate. DT Ryan Pickett (quadricep), LB Terrell Manning (shoulder) and T Marshall Newhouse (wrist) were limited. S M.D. Jennings (rib) went from limited on Wednesday to a full participant on Thursday.
