Showing the respect he’s earned from his teammates, Charles Woodson — despite missing the final nine game of the season — was voted one of the Green Bay Packers’ six permanent playoff captains.
The captains are Aaron Rodgers and James Jones on offense, Woodson and Clay Matthews on defense, and Jarrett Bush and Jamari Lattimore on special teams.
The team made the official announcement on Friday. The captains’ names were on the video screens in the Packers’ locker room on Thursday but the team put a hold on making the news public.
During the regular season, the Packers have one captain on offense, defense and special teams, and alternate those roles throughout the season.
Rodgers led the NFL with a passer rating of 108.0 and Jones led the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions. Matthews ranked fifth in the league with 13 sacks despite missing four-and-a-half games with an injured hamstring and Woodson had one interception and 1.5 sacks before breaking his collarbone at St. Louis on Oct. 21. Bush (17) and Lattimore (10) lead the team in special-teams tackles.
