The Chicago Bears today officially named Mike Groh as the team's wide receivers coach. Groh most recently was receivers coach for Alabama.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears reached an agreement with Mike Groh today to be the team’s wide receivers coach.

Groh has spent the last two seasons as Alabama’s wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator, helping lead the Crimson Tide to back-to-back national championships, his third at the University after serving as an offensive graduate assistant in 2009. In between his stints at Alabama, Groh served as the quarterbacks coach at Louisville in 2010.

From 2001-08, Groh was a coach at his alma mater the University of Virginia. During his first two seasons coaching the Cavaliers, Groh oversaw the wide receivers (2001-02). In 2003 he worked with both the wide receivers and quarterbacks. Over the next two years, Groh focused on coaching Virginia’s signal callers (2004-05) before being promoted to offensive coordinator, a title he held for three seasons. He got his start in coaching in 2000 as an offensive assistant/quality control coach for the New York Jets.

During his collegiate playing career, Groh was a two-year (1994-95) starting quarterback at Virginia and is the only signal caller in school history to lead the Cavaliers to nine wins and a bowl victory in consecutive seasons.
