Gillett (6-foot-1, 214 pounds) started 30 games at quarterback during his career before being replaced by sophomore Tyler Benz early in 2012. In three games at quarterback as a senior, he completed 35-of-74 passes for 397 yards, with four touchdowns and six interceptions, and was the team's leading rusher with 180 yards on 31 rushes.
Upon moving to receiver, Gillett caught 14 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. All of that production came in the final four games.
At pro day, he ran the 40 in 4.59 seconds but had an impressive vertical jump of 38.5 inches.
Gillett was a tryout quarterback at the Chiefs' rookie camp two weeks ago. After the draft, he was a tryout receiver for Washington.
Gillett fortifies a position group that was without seventh-round picks Kevin Dorsey and Charles Johnson at Tuesday's organized team activities practice for undisclosed reasons. Gillett gives the team 11 receivers and 88 players on the roster.
