Grading the Pro Potential: Strong Safeties

Washington State's Deone Bucannon is the cream of the crop of what is otherwise a weak draft class. Bucannon has the versatility to play in the box and in deep coverage, while Northern Illinois' Jimmie Ward might be better suited at free safety.

Lost in all the hoopla about how deep the cornerback class is, the safety position might have the least depth of any position in the 2014 draft pool. Whether you are looking for cat-quick free safeties or hard-hitting men on the strong side, teams will have to invest a draft pick earlier than the player's true value, or be left scrambling to find some big cornerbacks that might adjust to playing...
