Everyone including the Minnesota defense knew the Packer running back Ahman Green had to carry the load if the Packers had a chance vs. the Vikings in last
weekend’s matchup. Carry the load he did, and then some. For his Week 9 efforts,
Green has been named the NFL’s Player of the Week, the league announced.
Green was recognized for his 137-yard rushing day on 21 carries during Green
Bay’s 30-27 win over Minnesota in the Metrodome. He added five catches for 52
yards and caught a touchdown pass from Brett Favre in the win.
The other finalists for the NFL’s Fed Ex Ground Player of the Week were New
Orleans running back Deuce McAllister and Arizona running back Marcel Shipp.
This is Green’s third such honor of the season. He was named Player of the
Week after the Pack’s blowout of the Bears in week 4 and their follow-up victory
against Green’s former team, Seattle, in week 5.
