Packers in NFL Europe Week 2

Posted Apr 13, 2004

After a splashy debut which earned him player of the week honors, Packer receiver Shockmain Davis had a relatively quiet second game for the unbeaten Rhein Fire in NFL Europe action last weekend.

Davis had a single catch for 11 yards in Rhein’s 31-3 drubbing of the Scottish Claymores (0-2) before a crowd of 17,176 Saturday in Germany.

Davis was the only Packer on the winning end Saturday.

Tight end Tony Donald started for Amsterdam (0-2) in the Admirals’ 28-17 loss to the Berlin Thunder (2-0). Donald finished with four catches for 38 yards. CB Derek Combs led the Amsterdam defense with five solo tackles plus a special teams tackle, while LB Steve Josue chipped in a fumble recovery on special teams.

The Cologne Centurians fell 20-10 to Frankfurt (2-0). DE Eric Powell had two tackles in the losing effort and CB Erwin Swiney had one for Cologne (0-2).

This coming weekend the Rhein Fire will travel to Frankfurt for a battle of the unbeatens Saturday evening, while Berlin hosts Cologne and the Claymores host Amsterdam in Sunday afternoon games.
