Packers wrap NFL-E season in style

Packer players have made themselves heard each week in NFL Europe, and the final week of the regular season was no exception.<P>

Defensive end Eric Powell finished strong with five tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble to help Cologne (4-6) to a 28-20 win over the Scottish Claymores (2-8) Sunday. Also for the Centurions, defensive end Cullen Jenkins broke up a pass and cornerback Erwin Swiney had one tackle.

The Amsterdam Admirals (5-5) clinched third place with a 22-12 win over the Rhein Fire thanks to a strong performance by Packers cornerback Derek Combs.

Combs had an interception, his first of the season, plus five tackles and three kickoff returns for 76 yards.

Linebacker Steve Josue added three tackles and a pass defensed while Tight end Tony Donald had two catches for 27 yards in Amsterdam's winning effort.

For the Fire, Green Bay wide receiver Shockmain Davis had one catch for 18 yards, one kickoff return for 27 yards and two punt returns.

Running back Walter Williams gained 63 yards on 16 carries in this third game back from a hand injury.

In other NFL Europe action, the Berlin Thunder pasted Frankfurt 41-0 to become the definitive favorite when the teams meet again next weekend in World Bowl XXI. The title game is set for Saturday at Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen. The noon (Central) game will be televised on Fox.
