The Packers signed former Cleveland RB James Jackson late Tuesday, hoping to shore up their dwindling running back numbers, the team announced.

Jackson played in four games with the Browns, before he was waived Nov. 16. Jackson had 12 carries for 81 yards and six catches for 22 yards.

Jackson (5-10, 215-pounds) has appeared in 43 games with 16 starts in four seasons. His career totals are 1,071 yards and five touchdowns on 321 carries, plus 30 catches for 201 yards.

Cleveland drafted Jackson in the third round (65th overall) of the 2001 NFL draft out of the University of Miami, where he ranked third on the Hurricane's all-time rushing list with 2,953 yards and 29 TDs on 541 carries. Jackson was the collegiate teammate of Packers' RB Najeh Davenport.

In other roster moves, the Packers waived LB Nick Rogers and made three practice squad moves, re-signing wide receiver Kelvin Kight, signing running back Chris Robertson and releasing safety David Young.
