With Ahman Green sidelined for Monday night’s game against the St. Louis Rams, the Packers promoted fullback Vonta Leach from the practice squad and placed running back Walter Williams on injured reserve.

Leach will make his NFL debut against the Rams. He signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent, April 30. Waived in the final preseason roster reduction Sept. 6, he re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 8 and has spent the entire season in that role.

Green was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report throughout the week, but was unable to play because of bruised ribs. He was injured on the first play of Green Bay’s game at Houston on Nov. 21. Nick Luchey (shoulder) and Najeh Davenport (hamstring) are expected to play against the Rams, though, both have been limited recently by their injuries. The Packers also signed free agent running back James Jackson this week.

Leach is a former linebacker and fullback at East Carolina, where he lettered four years, he earned his team's offensive MVP honors at the annual Blue-Gray All-Star Classic after his senior season.

Leach wears No. 48 on the Packers' roster.
