Analysis: The selection of Aaron Rodgers with the 24th selection in the draft was a no-brainer for the Packers, but it did not address the pressing issues within this roster.

Green Bay Packers
1 (24) Aaron Rodgers; QB - California
2 (51) Nick Collins; CB - Bethune Cookman
2 (58) Terrence Murphy; WR - Texas A&M
4 (115) Marviel Underwood; S - San Diego State
4 (125) Brady Poppinga; OLB - BYU
5 (143) Junius Coston; C - North Carolina A&T
5 (167) Michael Hawkins; CB - Oklahoma
6 (180) Mike Montgomery; DE - Texas A&M
6 (195) Craig Bragg; WR  - UCLA
7 (245) Kurt Campbell; S - Albany State (N.Y.)
7 (246) William Whitticker; OG - Michigan State

Analysis: The selection of Rodgers with the 24th selection in the draft was a no-brainer for the Packers, but it did not address the pressing issues within their roster. A void of quality and depth in the defensive backfield, questions at linebacker, defensive line and offensive line make this selection one which will not help this team immediately. Still, Rodgers is a talented player who can be groomed to be the replacement for Brett Favre and should be considered a steal at this point in the draft.

A relative unknown, Collins could prove to be a solid acquisition for the Packers. Solid in pass coverage and improving in his run recognition and tackling, Collins is the type of player that has the physical ability to play safety or cornerback at the professional level, which is where the Packers need help. He should have the ability to step in and contribute immediately in a reserve role and could eventually develop into a very solid starting quality level player if he masters the communication and recognition skills needed at safety.

Grade: C-
