Bates confident in scheme

If there was ever a time for a run on Rolaids and Tums in Green Bay, it probably came a day after the NFL Draft. Many fans' still were a little queasy after the Green Bay Packers passed on a defensive lineman early in the draft. Many more were downright irate.

In fact, the Packers didn't select a defensive lineman till the sixth round. Most experts in the football world felt that the defensive line was Green Bay's biggest area of need heading into the draft, including this scribe.
