Dedication set for Saturday in Green Bay

The public is invited to attend the official dedication of Bart Starr Drive at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Starr, his wife, Cherry, and family and friends will be on hand for the informal presentation and street sign unveiling.

The event will take place between Marty's Boston Crab and Wendy's restaurants, three blocks east of Lambeau Field, near the corner of Bart Starr Drive and Lombardi Avenue in Green Bay.

The half-hour event will kickoff with a color-guard presentation by students of the Rawhide Boys Ranch and Starr Academy, and tributes to Starr from hosts Sandi and Corrie Campbell, Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt, Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Paul Jadin, Lombardi era player Gary Knaflec, and Rawhide executive director John Solberg. Starr is scheduled to address the crowd prior to the dedication of the street sign.

Green Bay's Common Council, in September, unanimously approved the renaming of the former Forward Street to Bart Starr Drive. The renaming effort was spearheaded by Sandi Campbell, who along with her daughter, artist C. McLain Campbell, are planning an outdoor monument park in the area. Titled the "Walk of Legends," the park will feature 24 engraved-granite and steel monuments to players and historic eras in Green Bay football history, dating from its inception inthe town-team era to the present. The area is currently under redevelopment.
