Packers will face Chargers Aug. 12 at 9 p.m. (CT)

The Green Bay Packers will open the 2006 exhibition season in San Diego against the Chargers on Saturday, Aug. 12 for a 9 p.m. CT kickoff, the Chargers announced.

The Packers will make their first-ever preseason visit to San Diego. Last year, the Packers defeated the Bolts, 10-7, on Ryan Longwell's 53-yard field goal in the final minute in the preseason opener at Lambeau Field.

The times and dates of two other Packers exhibitions have yet to be determined. The Packers will play their second exhibition the week of Aug. 17-21 at home against Atlanta. After a Monday night game Aug. 28 (7 p.m. CT) at Cincinnati, Green Bay returns home to finish the exhibition season the week of Aug. 31 - Sept. 1 against Tennessee.

The Packers open the regular season Sept. 10 at 3:15 p.m. (CT) at home against the defending NFC North champion Chicago Bears.
