Thompson trades down again, gets another sixth round pick

Packers general manager Ted Thompson, who made four trades on the first day of the NFL draft, began Day 2 by dealing Green Bay's second of two fourth-round picks (No. 109 overall) to Philadelphia for the Eagles’ fourth-round pick (No. 115) and sixth-round pick (No. 185).

The Packers began the draft with seven picks and raised the total to 12.

The Packers, after selecting wide receiver/kick return specialist Cory Rodgers with the 109th overall pick of the fourth round, used the 115th pick on Boston College cornerback/wide receiver William Blackmon. Philadelphia used Green Bay's 109th selection on Michigan wide receiver Jason Avant.

Thompson's latest trade marked the 10th time he has traded back in drafts in which he has presided over in Seattle and Green Bay.

"I'm not doing it on purpose, I'm not even doing it consciously," Thompson said at the conclusion of the first day of the draft Saturday night. "It's just the way it's worked out. I'm not opposed to trading up. I know I've said that, and you guys (media) are probably going to get to a point where you don't believe me, but I'm not opposed to it. It just hasn't worked out that way."

Here's a breakdown of Green Bay's trades this weekend:

Trade 1: Pick 36 to NE for picks 52 and 75
Trade 2: WR Javon Walker to DEN for pick 37
Trade 3: Picks 37 & 139 to ATL for picks 47, 93 & 148
Trade 4: Pick 93 to STL for picks 109 & 183
Trade 5: Pick 109 to PHI for picks 115 & 185
