Procedure scheduled for Monday, but snowstorm may force postponement

Brett Favre will undergo ankle surgery Monday at a Green Bay hospital, according to a report today in the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The veteran quarterback is expected to have several bone spurs removed from his ankle by team physician Pat McKenzie, though, a snowstorm that blanketed the Green Bay area late Saturday night and all day today might postpone the surgery.

Favre resides in Mississippi during the off-season. He was originally scheduled to have the surgery on Jan. 1, but decided to wait.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday that Favre will have the surgery within the next two weeks and be ready for the team's first full-squad minicamp on May 20.

Favre said during the season that his sore ankle dates back to 1995. He has thought about the surgery since 1999, according to his wife, Deanna, but never went through with the procedure, which is expected to relieve chronic pain and improve his mobility.
