Injury update; three veterans return; Packers sign tight end

The list of walking wounded continued to grow Tuesday evening.

Fullback Brandon Miree (Achilles) and linebacker Rory Johnson (abdomin) did not take part in the practice. Tight end Bubba Franks left practice near the end after sustaining a blow to the head.

Others who did not practice included defensive lineman Daniel Muir (ankle), running back Vernand Morency (knee), offensive lineman Allen Barbre (hamstring) and quarterback Brett Favre (funeral leave).

The Packers reportedly placed punter David Lonie on injured reserve. Lonie sustained an ankle injury and was on crutches during the morning practice Tuesday.

Pickett, Jolly, Driver return
Defensive tackles Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly, and wide receiver Donald Driver took part in their first pads practice Tuesday night.

Pickett and Jolly failed the running portion of their physicals last Friday. Driver's sore shoulder cause him to fail his physical and prevented him from practicing until today.

Packers sign tight end
Free agent tight end Joe Werner, a former basketball player at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, signed earlier Tuesday and practiced with the team in Old City Stadium.

Werner, a 6-foot-6, 252-pound tight end, was a two-time Division III All-American. The 2007 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, he led the team in both scoring (16.7 points per game) and rebounding (9.7 rebounds per game). Werner finished his career fourth on the school’s scoring list (1,404 points) and second in career rebounds (829).

The Packers gave Werner a tryout in May, but decided not to sign him.

"He just came back from his honeymoon, so I’m sure he’s ready to go,” said McCarthy.
