Packers victories will be few without respectable rushing attack
Coach Mike McCarthy said afterward that Herron's injury is "not very serious. That's what Pat (McKenzie, the team's doctor) feels as we're here in the locker room."
Herron injured his knee during his six-yard touchdown reception from Brett Favre with 7:42 left in the first quarter. Herron caught the pass from Favre at the 2 yard line, then broke free from two tacklers and dived across the goal line.
The Packers played without Brandon Jackson (concussion) and Vernand Morency (knee) against the Titans. Jackson is expected to be ready for the season opener Sept. 9 against Philadelphia, and Morency is hoping to be ready to play.
Without Herron, Jackson and Morency, rookie DeShawn Wynn played the majority of the game, finishing with 54 yards on 21 attempts (2.6 per carry avg.)
Culver injures shoulder
Safety Tyrone Culver left the game late in the third quarter after injuring his right shoulder in an attempt to make a tackle on Chris Davis, who returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown late in third quarter. Culver tried to grab Davis by the legs but missed, leaving a big hole for Davis to run through.
McCarthy described Culver's injury as a "strained shoulder" after the game. No further details were available.
Driver vows to be ready
Donald Driver, who did not suit up against Tennessee, assured Packers fans prior to the game that he will be ready to play in time for the season opener. Driver is recovering from a sprained foot that he sustained in a preseason game Aug. 23 against Jacksonville.
Driver has had his foot in a boot this week and said he is receiving treatment three times a day. He did not attend any practices nor was available during media periods in the locker room earlier this week before speaking publicly Thursday night.
"(Fans) don't have to worry about anything," Driver said. "I've always told them, don't worry about me, because I'll be there."
