Francies promoted from practice squad; Holiday placed on injured reserve

The Green Bay Packers promoted wide receiver Chris Francies to the 53-man roster Saturday from the team's practice squad, the Packers announced. In order to make room for Francies, wide receiver receiver Carlyle Holiday was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Francies played in seven games with the Packers in 2006. The second-year pro from Texas-El Paso caught two passes for 16 yards last season.

Holiday injured his knee last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was not expected to play in today's game against the New York Giants, and probably would have been sidelined longer. Recommended Stories
