Anderson Rookie of the Week

Packers safety Marques has been named the Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week for games played October 20-21, the NFL announced Thursday. Anderson has won the award in consecutive weeks.


Anderson recorded nine tackles and two passes defensed in the Packers' 30-9 win over Washington. Anderson has 21 tackles in the past two games, his first two NFL starts.

More than 47,000 fans voted this week on NFL.com to select Anderson from among five finalists. The other finalists were Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andre' Davis, Baltimore Ravens safety Will Demps, Atlanta Falcons running back T.J. Duckett and Detroit Lions quarterback Joey Harrington.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors

Here are the 2002 Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week winners so far:

Wk 1 -- TE Randy McMichael, Miami (University of Georgia)

Wk 2 -- WR Josh Reed, Buffalo (Louisiana State University)

Wk 3 -- McMichael

Wk 4 -- CB Phillip Buchanon, Oakland (University of Miami)

Wk 5 -- Buchanon

Wk 6 -- S Marques Anderson, Green Bay (UCLA)

Wk 7 -- Anderson
