Green Bay Packers trim three players from offseason roster

The Green Bay Packers released quarterbacks Jerry Babb and Dalton Bell, and punter Ryan Dougherty, according to a scout.com source with access to the NFL's transaction wire.

Green Bay selected quarterbacks Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn in last weekend's NFL draft, making Babb and Bell, who signed as free agents this offseason, expendable.

NFL rosters are currently limited to 80 players. In recent years, a team could carry more than 80 players on its roster, including exemptions from NFL Europa, but that league is no longer in existence.

The Packers selected nine players in last weekend's NFL draft and signed or agreed to terms with 13 undrafted rookie free agents.

The Packers will conduct a rookie orientation camp Friday through Sunday in Green Bay.
