He will be in Green Bay to introduce Frank Winters

Despite the possibility his appearance would overshadow the inductees, Brett Favre will be in Green Bay on Saturday for the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame induction banquet.

Favre will be on hand to present friend and former center Frank Winters, who retired after the 2002 season.

“I don’t think in our hearts there was a concern only because of the deep friendship and relationship that bonds Frankie Winters and Brett Favre together,” Dennis Tattum, the Hall of Fame’s vice president, told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Personally, from what I understand, they just did not look at (backing out) as an option. Favre had made a commitment to his best friend and that was it.”

Also up for induction will be nose tackle Gilbert Brown (presented by Santana Dotson) and video director Al Treml.

The presenters will not be available for interviews, which will avoid a media circus and keep the focus on the inductees.

Tickets for the event were sold out in March.
