Family Night set for August 8

Tickets for the ninth annual scrimmage, which cost $10 apiece, will go on sale on Saturday, June 6.

The Green Bay Packers' annual Family Night scrimmage will be held on Saturday night, Aug. 8, the team announced on Monday.

The ninth-annual event features an offense vs. defense scrimmage, a jersey giveaway and fireworks.

"Packers Family Night is one of our training camp's great traditions," Packers President Mark Murphy said. "Families coming together to watch Packers football on a Saturday night in Lambeau Field is a wonderful experience and something that is unique to our team. We're excited to kick off the season with a special night."

Tickets are $10 and will go on sale at noon (Central) on Saturday, June 6. Tickets will be available in person, over the phone or online through Ticketmaster, and the Packers' ticket office will be open from noon to 3 p.m. on June 6. There is an eight-ticket maximum to allow more fans the opportunity to attend.

The $10 charge is a $2 increase over last year and the first since 2004. Parking is $5, with net proceeds donated to the Wendy's Wonderful Kids foster care adoption program.

For group tickets (minimum of 50), apply at, in person at the Packers' ticket office or request a form to be faxed by calling 920-569-7501. Requests must be received by May 27.

Family Night begins at 5:30 p.m., with drills at 6:30 p.m. and the scrimmage at about 7:30 p.m. Afterward, about 20 scrimmage-worn jerseys will be given away and fireworks will conclude the event. The team says the fireworks display will be better than ever, since the team will mark its 90th birthday on Aug. 11.
