A source says that cornerback Tramon Williams has signed his restricted free agent tender. That means he'll be in town for the mandatory minicamp that begins on Monday.

No need to call in Sherlock Holmes.

Tramon Williams has signed his restricted free agent tender.

According to a source, Williams verbally agreed to play under the first-round tender of $3.043 million on Monday — in time to not be subjected to the 110 percent rule that would have seen that tender slashed by more than 80 percent, to about $588,000.

That seemed to be news to coach Mike McCarthy.

“Nothing that I'm aware of before practice,” McCarthy said after Wednesday’s practice.

Asked to clarify later, McCarthy said: “As of my time walking on the field, I do not have an official announcement on Tramon Williams.”’s Adam Caplan told Packer Report that Williams was not on the NFL’s internal transactions wire that was released at the close of business on Wednesday. And Williams’ agent, Rodney Williams, has not responded to numerous e-mails and calls from Packer Report and other media outlets.

Turns out it was all semantics.

Williams has signed the tender, and as of Wednesday evening, the Packers were awaiting receipt of the paperwork. That will probably happen on Thursday.

With that mini-crisis solved, Williams should be in town to participate in the three-day, mandatory minicamp that begins on Monday.
