The 2003 NFL Draft's Day One offered an afternoon of surprises that left veteran broadcaster Chris Berman surmising "I've never seen anything like this."

He was referring to the Vikings missing their No. 7 slot, allowing two teams to literally sprint to the podium to pick before the Vikes finally got it together.

That wasn't the only event of a day that featured a heartwarming twist on a comeback story, a big dose of defense and more than a few firsts.
