| Hannibal Navies UFA Packers – The sixth-year pro played his first four years as a reserve as a Panther and his last two as a starter on the strong side for Green Bay. Navies is known as a decent cover linebacker but he lacks solid run defensive skills and really is a marginal starter.

season as the starting strong-side linebacker for Carolina but broke his
right forearm and missed the rest of the season. He had arthroscopic surgery
on his left knee early in training camp in 2000 and missed the entire
exhibition season and the first three games. In 1999, he was inactive for the
first seven games with bruised cartilage in his right knee suffered in
practice prior to the season opener. ... Had 98 tackles, 64 of them
unassisted, while appearing in 39 career games in his four seasons with
Carolina. ... His only career interception came off of Packers quarterback
Brett Favre in the Panthers’ 31-14 Monday Night Football victory over Green
Bay on Nov. 27, 2000.
College
Navies closed out his career at the University of Colorado ranked eighth
in team annals with 180 solo tackles. ... Started every game as a senior in
1998 and led the Buffs with 87 tackles, in addition to 2.5 sacks, three stops
for a loss, and three quarterback pressures. A year earlier, he earned the
team's defensive player of the year award as a junior after starting every
game and finishing second on the team with 130 tackles. ... Tied the school
single-game record for solo tackles with 19 against Missouri and finished the
contest with 28 stops, the second highest total in school history. |
