Biography:
Pro
2004: No. 2 quarterback for the first four games until a rib/back injury landed him on injured reserve on Oct. 7. ... Also had served as the reliable holder for placekicker Ryan Longwell until time of injury. Finished the season with 11 completions in 23 passing attempts (47.8%) for 120 yards, a passer rating of 27.4. ... With Favre hobbled by a charley-horse in his left hamstring, came in at quarterback for the Packers' final series at Indianapolis (Sept. 26); threw for 34 yards on four-of-six passing before being intercepted, in what was his first extended action since the 2002 season. ... Against the New York Giants (Oct. 3), played a majority of the second half in relief of Favre (concussion), who went out after the Packers' first offensive series of the third quarter. Completed seven of 17 passes for 86 yards with one interception. Sustained three injuries vs. the Giants: a cracked bone (called the transverse process) in his back, a torn muscle in his side and a broken rib. Despite sustaining the injury in the third quarter, after a Giants player hit him just before he went out of bounds, Pederson stayed in the game, his 100th career NFL contest, until leaving just before the final snap. Re-signed with the Packers in April of 2004.

2003: Served as Brett Favre's backup for third straight season and fourth time overall (also in 1998). ... Played in all 16 games for the third straight year, mostly as the holder for FG and PAT attempts. ... Saw similar duty in both playoff games.

In 2002, he appeared in all 16 regular-season games, plus both playoff contests, mainly as the holder for FG and PAT placements. He beat out veteran Billy Joe Tolliver in training camp in 2001 to win the job as Favre's understudy. Pederson was a starter with the Philadelphia Eagles (1999) and Cleveland Browns (2000). He previously was a backup quarterback for the Packers for parts of four seasons (1995-98), a span during which he was a member of Green Bay's back-to-back Super Bowl teams (1996-97), he re-joined the Packers as a free agent, signing March 13, 2001, following his termination by the Browns. He had been Green Bay's No. 2 quarterback in 1998 after two full seasons (1996-97) and part of a third (1995) as the team's No. 3 signal-caller. Pederson moved on to Philadelphia in 1999, becoming the Eagles' starting quarterback for nine games under his one-time position coach in Green Bay, Andy Reid, before yielding to rookie signal-caller Donovan McNabb, the team's first-round draft choice. He subsequently signed on with Cleveland as a free agent in 2000 and started eight contests for the Browns after Tim Couch was sidelined for the season with a fractured thumb on his throwing hand.
