Pro
2005: The imposing, lumbering Whitticker quickly
shot up the depth chart in the preseason and emerged as the unlikely
successor to departed Pro Bowler Marco Rivera at right guard. Although he
held down the starting spot for all but two games, Whitticker fizzled as a
run blocker and a pass protector. He's not a good match for the new
zone-blocking scheme, unless he's able to shed about 20 pounds from his
340-pound frame. ... Selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, 246th overall.
College
He started at right offensive guard for the Spartans as a senior. Also started as a freshman and sophomore, but was relegated to reserve duty in 2003. Determined to get back on the field, he worked long and hard in the weight room prior to 2004 and it showed on the field.
Recorded 139 knockdowns in his first three seasons with the team. His 2004 total was a very impressive team-high 83 knockdown blocks. He is a durable athlete who missed only one game due to injuries during his career. He also started 31 games as a Spartan.
High School
Attended Marion (Ind.) High School, playing football for coach Mark Surface … Listed on PrepStar's and SuperPrep's All-Midwest teams … Ranked as Indiana's No. 1 prospect and the Midwest's No. 43 player by the Midwest Football Recruiting News … Three-year starter at offensive tackle … Attended the same high school that produced former Spartans basketball standout and NBA first-round draft selection Zach Randolph (Portland Trail Blazers).
