Signed free agent contract with Packers late in 2001 season to provide
depth at safety, after injuries ended seasons of LeRoy Butler and Antuan
Edwards. Re-signed by Packers in spring of 2002. St. Louis Rams’ 2000
'Rookie of the Year.' Started at strong safety in two of 16
regular-season games played for St. Louis in 2000, and played in the Wild
Card playoff at New Orleans (Dec. 30).Had 21 tackles (15 solo) and 2
passes broken up. Also recorded 21 special-teams tackles to tie for club
lead.
College
Earned All-America honors as a strong safety at Iowa, who recruited him
as a quarterback. A four-year letter winner (1996-99), starting the last
two seasons. Second-team All-America and first-team All-Big Ten
Conference selection, the Hawkeyes' strong safety started every game as a
senior (1999), recording a career-high 109 tackles (76 solo) and 2
interceptions. As a junior, led the team with 92 tackles (57 solo) and
picked off 2 passes, while starting every game at strong safety. |
