PRO CAREER: Made immediate impact in his rookie season appearing in every game, starting 14 in the regular season and all 3 playoff games at free safety, the most regular season starts by a Bears rookie defensive back since Mike Brown (16, 2000)… Became first Bears rookie with an INT in his NFL debut since Dwayne Joseph in 1995 (9/3 vs. MIN) after picking off Brett Favre at GB (9/10/06)… Led team with 5 forced fumbles (4 on defense and 1 on special teams), the most combined forced fumbles by a Bear since Tony Parrish had 5 (5 and 0) in 1998… Finished 4th on Bears roster with 80 tackles, the most by a Chicago rookie defensive back since Charles Tillman in 2003 (89).
CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Entered NFL as a second-round selection (42nd overall) by Chicago in the 2006 NFL Draft… Signed 4-year contract with Bears (7/7/06). SIGNED through 2009
PERSONAL NOTES: Three-year starter at Corsicana H.S.(Texas) earning second-team all-state honors as a senior by the Associated Press and Texas Sports Writers Association… Led school to regional final while posting 67 tackles, 3 INTs (2 returned for TDs), 5 fumble recoveries (1 returned for TD), 10 PBUs and 3 blocked kicks… Originally signed with Nebraska after being recruited by Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Arkansas and Alabama… Track standout finished 2nd in state in 100 meters and triple jump and 4th in the 200 meters… Notched 4th-fastest 100-meter in the nation as a senior (10.34).
