2009 outlook: Whether Jolly (6-foot-3, 325 pounds) is a good fit as a 3-4 defensive end remains to be seen, but he’s the only proven big body among the presumed backups. Jolly started all 16 games last season at defensive tackle. He provided practically no pressure on the quarterback but he made some plays with his ability to get between blockers and make a tackle down the line of scrimmage. Barring an injury, he figures to be the top backup along the line and the No. 3 interior rusher behind B.J. Raji and Cullen Jenkins on passing downs. His trial for possession of codeine probably won't start until 2010.
2007: He started seven of his 10 games, with 31 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery. His season ended with a shoulder injury in December.
2006: Was inactive for 10 of 16 games, including the first five. He gradually worked his way into the defensive line’s rotation toward the end of the season. He had four tackles and one pass defensed. ... First of Green Bay's two sixth round selections, 183rd overall, in NFL draft.
College
Teammate of Packers defensive end Michael Montgomery, whom the Packers selected in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL draft.
Jolly started for three years and excelled as a run stopper at nose tackle. He has the versatility to play the three-technique spot and move outside but is slow.
