Pro
Seasoned QB porspect joined the Bears (2/8/02) after spending
one season with the Packers and four seasons in the Canadian Fooball League.
Spent three years as a backup with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders (1997-99),
seeing limited time his first two seasons behind starter Jeff Garcia, now a
Pro Bowl QB for San Francisco. Moved to Saskatchewan as a free agent in 2000
for the opportunity to be a starter and threw for 30 TDs and over 4,600
yards in his one season with the Roughriders. Break-through season garnered
attention from NFL scouts, leading to workouts with 14 teams before singing
with Green Bay. Completed 349-647 passes (53.9%) for 5,259 yards and 34 TD
passes with 30 INTs, a 79.1 rating, over his four seasons in the CFL. Member
of Calgary’s 1998 Grey Cup championship team.
College
Was a four-time letterman at Temple (1993-96), starting for
three-and-a-half seasons. Held 20 school and 10 conference passing records
upon his graduation. Set Big East Conference career marks for pass
completions (558) and attempts (1,136). Finished second in conference
history in yards passing (7,495), his 49 TD passes tied for the Big East
record. Served as the Owls’ co-captain as a senior, when he completed
142-of-280 passes for 2,084 yards and 12 TDs, including a school-record445
yards vs. Pittsburgh. Threw for 2,004 yards and 11 TDs on 139-of-300 passing
his junior season. Enjoyed career-highs in yards passing (2,716) and TD
passes (21) as a sophomore while completing 215-of-409 balls to earn
second-team all-Big East honors. Set eight school records in 1994 as he took
Temple to first in conference passing after a last-place finish the year
before. Made four starts for an injured Phil Land among 10 games played his
freshman season, throwing for 691 yards and five TDs. Holds a bachelor
degree in broadcasting/communications. |
