Jets grounded by Ravens 19-3

The New York Jets were stymied by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Things went from bad to worse for the New York Jets as they suffered their second consecutive defeat and fell out of the sixth and final wildcard spot in the AFC. Geno Smith tossed two interceptions and completed just 9-of-22 pass attempts for 127 yards and a measly 22.3 quarterback rating.

Baltimore's placekicker Justin Tucker connected on four field goal attempts and once again the deep ball came back to haunt New York as Joe Flacco's 66-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones late in the third quarter put the game out of reach.

After the Jets opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal from Nick Folk on their second offensive possession, the Ravens stifling defense took over and their offensive unit went on to score 19 unanswered points.

Despite bringing Flacco down for four sacks and six quarterback hits, Baltimore's big play offense kept the Jets on their heels throughout the afternoon. Gang Green's offense was downright awful as it converted just 1-of-12 third down attempts and committed three costly turnovers.

With the loss the Ravens leapfrogged the Jets for the final Wildcard berth and hold the head to head tiebreaker over New York. The Jets are still right in the thick of the playoff mix, but after the offensive futility on display in Week 12, Rex Ryan and company will need to find some answers quickly, before things start to spiral out of control.
